Why Beautiful Skin Is About More Than Products and Procedures
Walk into almost any beauty store, open Instagram, or browse skincare websites, and you'll quickly receive the same message:
You need a better cleanser.
A stronger serum.
A more advanced treatment.
A newer device.
A more aggressive procedure.
As a holistic esthetician, I absolutely believe that good skincare products and professional treatments can make a meaningful difference. I use them every day in my practice and have seen beautiful results.
But after more than 30 years in this industry, I've learned something important:
Beautiful skin is about so much more than products and procedures.
Our skin is not separate from the rest of us.
It is connected to our nervous system, our hormones, our digestion, our sleep, our stress levels, our relationships, and even the way we speak to ourselves.
I often see women who have invested hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars into skincare products, yet they still feel frustrated by their skin.
They are doing everything "right."
They have the serums.
They have the creams.
They have the devices.
But they are exhausted.
They are overwhelmed.
They are running on stress and survival mode.
And their skin reflects it.
The skin is constantly listening.
It listens when we are under chronic stress.
It listens when we are not sleeping.
It listens when our hormones shift.
It listens when we are nourishing ourselves well, and when we are not.
It listens when we spend every morning looking in the mirror searching for flaws.
And it listens when we begin treating ourselves with kindness.
This is why my approach has never been only about skincare.
Of course we want healthy products and effective treatments.
But I also want my clients to sleep well.
To move their bodies.
To nourish themselves.
To laugh.
To spend time in nature.
To regulate their nervous systems.
To create moments of peace in their day.
Because these things show up on the skin, too.
Some of the most radiant women I know are not necessarily the women with perfect skin.
They are the women who are connected to themselves.
The women who care for themselves consistently.
The women who have learned to soften.
The women who understand that beauty is not something to chase.
It is something to support.
A good skincare routine helps.
Professional treatments help.
But beautiful skin is often the natural result of something much deeper:
A life that includes rest, nourishment, joy, connection, and self care.
The goal isn't perfection.
The goal is to create the conditions that allow your skin and your whole self to thrive.
Because beautiful skin isn't just about products and procedures.
It's about how we care for ourselves every day.
